Forklift Yardman

Are you competent operating forklift? Do you have warehousing or storeman experience? Do you have good communication, literacy, and numerical skills?

This position is a hands-on role to assist distribution and to effectively ensure a smooth flow with inwards goods, picking, packing, and dispatching orders. This role will involve loading and unloading trucks and containers with the forklift, shifting stock around the yard, inventory control, some computer work and physical labouring. You can expect to be operating the forklift 80% of the time and 20% completing paperwork for freight consignments.

Experience in warehousing, logistics and forklift operation is essential as the environment can be hi-paced during seasonal peaks, you must also be able to work extra hours to meet customer demands as required. You will maintain a high level of H&S and be accurate and methodical in your work.

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • Current OSH Forklift and preferably F Endorsement
  • Competent with forklift operation
  • Working knowledge of NZ Health and Safety
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Have an excellent work ethic and be reliable
  • Flexibility to do extra hours

This position is Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday morning during seasonal peaks, 40 hours per week with overtime as required, overtime rates and allowances are included.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug test and must be conviction free to meet company policy.

Class 5 Drivers – Harvest Season

Do you have truck driving experience in the agricultural industry? Are you competent driving a truck and trailer?

We are currently seeking skilled class 5 truck drivers for the up-coming harvest season to cart a range of bulk products such as silage, grain and fertiliser throughout Mid Canterbury.

You must have:

  • A Class 5 license with a clean driving record
  • Experience driving a truck and trailer unit and backing
  • Physically fit, honest and reliable
  • Flexible working hours
  • Compliant with all health and safety policies and procedures

You will need to be flexible with hours, there will be times when you will need to work longer when the weather is right and you must be able to work well as a part of a team. The roles are to cover the harvest season from October through until March but could be longer for the right person.

LOADER OPERATOR WITH WTR

Our client is seeking a capable, experienced and mature minded Loader Operator to help them through their high season through to May. Although this is a long term temporary role, there may be an opportunity for this vacancy to become permanent for the right person, although we cannot guarantee this.

You will possess the following:

  • Current WTR endorsement
  • Demonstrated Loader experience with a “can do” work ethic
  • You will understand and appreciate my client’s respect for Health and Safety.
  • You won’t be averse to some manual labour as part of the role
  • As this role is in Washdyke you will need a clean, current licence and reliable transport.

This position involves working with fertiliser which can be an irritant, it is important that you don’t suffer allergies or asthma.

We are finding more and more that a good temporary worker is often considered for a full time role if you can prove yourself.

Fertiliser Spreader / General Farm Hand

We are looking for an operator for a modern fertiliser spreader, who has good spatial awareness to join a large scale, family owned and operated mixed farming operation of over 1,500ha.

The successful candidate can expect to receive:

Operation of a multi-drive, self-propelled fertiliser spreader, applying fertilisers to various crops, over a 32m spread width is the main component of this role. Attention to detail is vital as you will be calibrating and recording fertiliser applications with both GreenStar GPS and manual book entry.

Although this is mainly a crop based role, for consistent hours throughout the year, other farm duties could include:

• John Deere 9870 Header operation over the harvest season
• Tractor work (cultivation, drilling, chaser bin)
• Drenching etc of store lambs via conveyor belt during the fattening period
• Moving stock as required

The ideal candidate will bring the following experience and attributes:

• At least 1 years’ tractor driving experience, using GPS systems
• Have experience and be confident working with stock (both sheep and cattle/bulls)
• Self-motivated and full of energy
• Most importantly you will thrive working as part of the team

There will be some flexibility required with days and hours to accommodate the seasonal peaks.

Our client’s long term driver has moved away, hence the search for their next night time superstar! They are seeking an experienced C2 Driver whose lifestyle will fit around the below-mentioned hours. Starting as a temp, you will prove yourself to be indispensable; doing so will mean that after a period of time, you might very well be offered permanent employment. This is an opportunity to enjoy working in a small team environment under a manager who is very supportive.

Days and hours are:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 2 am until 10.30 am (Tuesday will be your day off)
  • Thursday – 3 am until 11.30 am
  • Saturday – 4 am until 8am
  • Sunday – 5 am until 9 am
  • Class 2 driving
  • Emptying rubbish bins
  • Maintenance of streets/paths
  • Sump/Steam cleaning

This is a temp to perm role that would suit a reliable conscientious person who is dedicated to working night shift. You will be jumping in and out of the truck on a regular basis so there is a need to be fit with no work limiting injuries. A clean class 2 drivers licence is a must as is a good work ethic, a good level of fitness and be reliable enough to work unsupervised.

Due to COVID restrictions under level 1, you must be physically present in the wider Canterbury region and have a current legal right to work within New Zealand.
