Class 5 Drivers – Harvest Season

Do you have truck driving experience in the agricultural industry? Are you competent driving a truck and trailer?

We are currently seeking skilled class 5 truck drivers for the up-coming harvest season to cart a range of bulk products such as silage, grain and fertiliser throughout Mid Canterbury.

You must have:

  • A Class 5 license with a clean driving record
  • Experience driving a truck and trailer unit and backing
  • Physically fit, honest and reliable
  • Flexible working hours
  • Compliant with all health and safety policies and procedures

You will need to be flexible with hours, there will be times when you will need to work longer when the weather is right and you must be able to work well as a part of a team. The roles are to cover the harvest season from October through until March but could be longer for the right person.

Fertiliser Spreader / General Farm Hand

We are looking for an operator for a modern fertiliser spreader, who has good spatial awareness to join a large scale, family owned and operated mixed farming operation of over 1,500ha.

The successful candidate can expect to receive:

Operation of a multi-drive, self-propelled fertiliser spreader, applying fertilisers to various crops, over a 32m spread width is the main component of this role. Attention to detail is vital as you will be calibrating and recording fertiliser applications with both GreenStar GPS and manual book entry.

Although this is mainly a crop based role, for consistent hours throughout the year, other farm duties could include:

• John Deere 9870 Header operation over the harvest season
• Tractor work (cultivation, drilling, chaser bin)
• Drenching etc of store lambs via conveyor belt during the fattening period
• Moving stock as required

The ideal candidate will bring the following experience and attributes:

• At least 1 years’ tractor driving experience, using GPS systems
• Have experience and be confident working with stock (both sheep and cattle/bulls)
• Self-motivated and full of energy
• Most importantly you will thrive working as part of the team

There will be some flexibility required with days and hours to accommodate the seasonal peaks.
For the successful applicant, accommodation on farm is available.

Do you enjoy working in the agricultural sector and being outdoors? Are you mechanically minded and enjoy fixing things? Do you have experience as a Service Technician in the Irrigation Sector?

We are currently seeking a Service Technician for an Irrigation client based in Ashburton. Having been in the game of providing cost effective irrigation solutions for over a decade, they are a progressive company and a market leader in their industry.

This role is a permanent position for the right applicant and has plenty of room for growth within the company. You will be required to service pivot irrigators in the Mid and South Canterbury region which will include maintenance, repairs, servicing and fault finding. Ideally, the successful applicant will have previous experience as a Service Technician in the Irrigation sector, but those who are mechanically minded, have some electrical knowledge and have a maintenance background should still apply.

You will be required to have:
• A proven service/maintenance, mechanical or engineering background
• Be able to work autonomously
• Diagnostic and problem solving ability
• Pump knowledge or understanding
• High level of communication
• A full driver’s license

The hours are generally 7.30am start and can be 10 hour days during the peak season which is normally October through until February. During the main irrigation season there will also be rostered weekend work every third weekend and time and a half after 50 hours.
