Do you have experience in the plastics industry or in a factory environment? Are you competent operating machinery and taking measurements?

Our client has been operating in Ashburton for over 40 years and is part of a large global group that manufacture high quality plastic products to clients nationally and worldwide. Due to the high demand of their quality product and continual market and company growth, they require Factory Machine Operators to work set shifts on days and nights.

Night shift hours are 11.00pm-7.15am Monday to Friday. You will be operating plastic extruder machines to manufacture PE and PVC pipe while completing quality checks to ensure specific standards are met. OSH forklift would be considered favourable and full training will be provided.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug test and must be conviction free.

Are you an experienced Maintenance Electrician looking for a change? Do you have a NZ EWRB Electrical Certification? Are you competent working as an electrician in the industrial environment?

You will provide electrical maintenance and support to the manufacturing plant by ensuring all electrical systems within the plant are operating correctly, responding promptly to any breakdowns and ensuring there is minimal interruption to manufacturing processes caused by electrical faults or breakdowns.

This is a hands-on role which will suit someone who is comfortable working autonomously, is enthusiastic and motivated, and above all is reliable and trustworthy. You will have good written and verbal communication skills and have a solid background as an electrician within an industrial environment.

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • A current NZ Electrical practising licence – EWRB Registered
  • Proven background of electrical maintenance in a manufacturing environment
  • Awareness of Health & Safety
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • A positive and proactive attitude

Extrusion Team Leader – Twilight Shift

Do you have experience leading a team in a production environment? Are you familiar with Lean Manufacturing? Are you proficient on the computer and good with Microsoft programmes?

A great opportunity has arisen for an Extrusion Team Leader to join a local plastics company that manufacture high quality plastic products to clients nationally and worldwide. This position is a hands-role to manage and co-ordinate the production process to the required standards of quality, timeliness and cost efficiency, by co-ordinating people and processes.

Key areas will be providing leadership in H & S, developing purpose and vision for the team and continuous improvement initiatives towards a culture and plant of excellence.

You will provide on-going support and training to ensure the team meets daily, weekly and monthly objectives by guiding them and promoting a productive, safe and efficient environment. The successful applicant must have previous experience in a production environment, managing a team and be familiar with Lean manufacturing.  You will be leading a team of 15-20 staff so will need to be personable and have strong leadership ability along with knowledge of Microsoft programmes at an intermediate level.

Key areas include:

  • Leadership of the shift production team
  • Leading and developing the Health and Safety Culture
  • Setting/achieving production priorities/planning/scheduling
  • Contribute and implement continuous improvement

In addition to the relevant qualification and experience in manufacturing/operations you will be a person who enjoys leading by engaging with the team on the production floor and working with them to solve issues. You will have sound decision-making skills, experience with ERP systems, an understanding of implementing solid processes, plus a strong ability in team training and development.

This position is on the twilight shift working Monday to Friday from 2.30pm-11.30pm and comes with a company cell phone.
