Alzheimers South Canterbury have been making a difference to the lives of those affected by dementia for over 25 years. They provide a range of social work, support and education to the people and families in the South Canterbury region that are affected by dementia. There is a significant increase in people affected by dementia every year, and the caring and professional Alzheimers South Canterbury staff, volunteers and committee are committed to making life better for all people affected by it.

They are seeking an EXPERIENCED leader in order to further lift the profile of the organisation and to provide day to day leadership and administrative direction.  The role will initially be for 30 hours per week spread over 5 working days, however it is envisaged that in time the role may grow and the successful candidate should be willing and prepared to possibly work a 40 hour week in the future.

The successful applicant should possess the following experience:

  • Demonstrated Leadership and managerial skills within an NGO environment, preferably but not limited to dementia services.
  • Proven ability to network with a number of organisations including and not limited to health and social practitioners and agencies, community organisations and the general public
  • The ability to both present to, and facilitate groups pertaining to Alzheimer’s education and support
  • Assessment and delivery of client services
  • Competent and efficient management of the office function and associated staff
  •  Competency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Understanding of financial transactions and reporting to the Board.

This is an interesting and varied role that offers a number of different elements in order to culminate in what we believe will be a very fulfilling role.

We envisage the successful candidate coming from an NGO background with leadership experience.  They will most likely be a registered nurse or have a relevant health or professional qualification.  Experience in Alzheimers/dementia experience is preferred however if you have had significant exposure to this disability, you will also be considered.

Remuneration will be dependant on experience and qualifications.  Parking is provided as well as laptop/mobile phone etc.   A car is available for use during the course of the working day.
