An opportunity has arisen for a mechanically minded person who enjoys problem solving, has good attention to detail along with servicing and fault finding experience, to join a locally owned irrigation company in Ashburton. 

This role is a permanent position involving the maintenance, fault finding and repairs of centre pivot and lateral irrigators throughout the South Island and offers future career development with suppliers in USA. On occasion there will be the requirement to stay away from home but all accommodation, meals and drinks are paid for along with the supply of a vehicle. The days are Monday to Friday and rostered Saturdays 1 in every 4-5 weeks, with hours varying during seasonal peaks. The successful applicant will need to be mechanically minded, have some electrical knowledge and have a maintenance background.

Skills or experience should include:

  • A proven maintenance, electrical, mechanical or engineering background
  • Diagnostic and problem solving ability
  • Pump knowledge or understanding
  • High level of communication
  • A full driver’s license

You will be responsible for the efficient repairs of domestic and irrigation pumps and pivots, general servicing, along with monitoring of project inventory to ensure stock levels are maintained for all Pivot and Pump installation projects. As part of this role you will also be responsible for signing off electrical work to NZ electrical regulations and safety standards.

FITTER WELDER – ASHBURTON

Our client manufactures a range of quality truck bodies, drop sides, curtain sider trucks, decks and horse floats and has an immediate vacancy for experienced Fitter Welders to work in their busy workshop.

In this role you will be expected to be able to read plans, perform fabrication tasks, MIG welding and show initiative. The successful candidate will have good welding skills with a proven work history in engineering preferable, but will also consider applicants that have gained experience at home. Must have good communication skills and be able to follow instructions along with the ability to work unsupervised.

The hours are 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday with some weekend work if the need arises; wages are very much determined by experience and skill levels.

The successful candidate must be adept at:

• High standard of workmanship
