We are currently seeking an experienced builder or hammerhand who is looking for a change.

We have temporary assignments (with the potential to go full-time) running from a few days to a few weeks or months in duration. You will be working on projects with different companies all over South Canterbury, so if you are:

• A LBP (Licenced Building Practitioner)
or
• A Qualified Builder
or
• An Unqualified Builder (qualified by experience)
or
• An experienced Hammer Hand

Our client manufactures a range of quality truck bodies, drop sides, curtain sider trucks, decks and horse floats and has an immediate vacancy for experienced Fitter Welders to work in their busy workshop.

In this role you will be expected to be able to read plans, perform fabrication tasks, MIG welding and show initiative. The successful candidate will have good welding skills with a proven work history in engineering preferable, but will also consider applicants that have gained experience at home. Must have good communication skills and be able to follow instructions along with the ability to work unsupervised.

The hours are 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday with some weekend work if the need arises; wages are very much determined by experience and skill levels.

The successful candidate must be adept at:
• Reading plans
• MIG Welding
• Show initiative
• High standard of workmanship

This full-time role involves building new irrigation systems in a variety of locations out in the field, along with some workshop requirements. If you thrive on taking ownership in your work and have the ability to work unsupervised and independently then this could be the opportunity for you.

To be successful in this position you will need:

• Engineering and MIG and TIG welding skills
• Irrigation knowledge
• Familiar with Cast and Steel fitting
• Ability to read plans and follow exact instructions
• Full Class 1 Drivers Licence
