This long term role is the gate way to further your agricultural career, working with all aspects of farming on a Certified Organic Ranch. You will be assisting with breeding, rearing and processing cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry.  They stand by their philosophy of people, animals and soils, and are looking for someone with a passion and drive to succeed in this position.  All ranch land is certified organic and only organic ranching and organic farming practices are applied.

The following criteria must be met for this sort after opportunity:

  • Experience with a mixed ranch operation including stock work, machinery operation, fencing and general farming duties
  • Outstanding horse riding and dog handling skills
  • Genuine interest to expanding your knowledge in Canadian farming practices
  • Farming experience, with intent to move into management in the future
  • Looking for a long term position, with the possibility of gaining permanent residency in Canada.
  • Certified Organic farming and Biodynamics desirable but full training provided.
  • Show strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate a small team to gain results.
  • Work productively and efficiently under pressure, completing tasks to a high calibre
  • Happy to work in a remote location, and flexible with early mornings and long hours of work in seasonal peaks e.g. during mustering of cattle over the range
  • Awareness and implementation of current health & safety legislation on the ranch
  • Clean drivers licence
  • Are eligible to obtain a Canadian working visa (conviction free)

This role is open to a single person, couple or family but you must be eligible to obtain a Canadian visa and have a clean criminal record.  There are also rental options available on the ranch along with schooling facilities in the area.  A competitive salary and work vehicle package are included, with this once in a lifetime experience.

Class 4-5 drivers for the harvest period

We are currently seeking skilled Class 5 drivers who have hands on experience in the Agricultural industry. Confidence to work in various roles unsupervised or alongside a team is essential in these positions. Main duties in this role include working with silage carting, balage/ straw carting and machinery transport, based in the Mid Canterbury area.
You will be required to have:
• A full class 4-5 licence.
• Flexibility with hours and days of work.
• Good attention to detail, taking pride in your vehicle.
• Responsible, with great punctuality, reliability and communication skills.
• Hands on when required, possibility of labouring involved.
• Adaptable to different working environments and working with people from all walks of life.
• Dangerous Goods & Experience driving a truck and trailer unit. ( desirable)

These roles are on a temporary basis over the harvest period , with potential for a lead to a permanent role to the right candidates.

Tractor Operators needed

We are currently seeking experienced Tractor Drivers for the upcoming silage/ balage season in the Mid Canterbury region. These roles will vary is length of time and the seasons can then move through to grain and crop harvest over the summer period. These positions are working with modern machinery, in a very busy environment and in a great team.
You will need to have:

  • Experience in cropping or agricultural contracting ( harvest experience desirable)
  • A full driver’s license, class 2 – 5 desirable
  • Mechanical knowledge
  • A reliable and flexible working attitude
  • GPS experience
  • Fluent English

These roles will require long hours of work and you will need to have your own accommodation. Arable farm role

We are currently seeking a hard working individual for a permanent position in the Ashburton area. This Arable role requires someone passionate about Agricultural farming and wanting to learn more and advance themselves in the industry.

Mainly crop based, some duties in this role include tractor operation, irrigation work, and pasture management with various crops including grasses, wheat and barley, along with specialised seed crops. There is also assistance with dairy grazing seasonally and general farm duties and maintenance required.

A working week of on average 45 hours, with flexibility required to work long hours and weekends in seasonal peaks.
The ideal candidate for this role will need to be responsibility, punctual, self-motivated, with enthusiasm and energy. You will require either crop farming experience or a general understanding of farming in New Zealand. This role provides a competitive hourly rate and accommodation is not provided.
